Call For Junior Demographer - Junior Demographer Travel Grant

The IUSSP Scientific Committee on Historical Demography invites applications from junior demographers to attend an International Seminar on the New History of Kinship organised by the IUSSP Scientific Committee on Historical Demography, INED, and EHESS to be held in Paris, 30 September to 2 October 2004.

This International Seminar will bring together historical demographers, economic historians, sociologists, anthropologists, geneticists, as well as scholars from other disciplines interested in exchanging the latest scientific knowledge on forms and effects of kinship on demographic and social behavior.

The Junior Demographer Travel Grant provides an opportunity for a young demographer to meet world renowned specialists in the field. The grant covers roundtrip transport to the meeting as well as accommodation during the meeting. In return the junior demographer may be asked by the seminar organizers to serve as "rapporteur" or help with other organisational tasks during the meeting.

Application Procedure:

Candidates should submit a letter explaining why they are interested in attending the Seminar, what they expect to gain from it, and how they could contribute to it. The candidate's letter, curriculum vitae, and letters of recommendation from two sponsors should be sent to Tommy Bengtsson tommy.bengtsson@ekh.lu.se

The application deadline for this seminar is May 31, 2004.
