Plagiarism is a very serious offence, which the IUSSP does not tolerate. In cases where the IUSSP Council finds that an abstract or paper submitted for an IUSSP seminar or conference plagiarizes someone else’s work, with or without their permission, the paper will be rejected or removed from the programme and all authors will be named and banned from IUSSP membership and activities for up to 10 years. The same applies for cases where members plagiarize scientific information made available on the IUSSP website, in particular the working papers.
Plagiarism includes copying an abstract or paper, in part or in full, and presenting it as original work; failing to indicate that a sentence, a figure, a table, was originally produced by someone else; as well as the borrowing of ideas presented elsewhere without proper acknowledgement of the source.
