Lawrence Sacco is a PhD student at the Institute of Gerontology, Department of Social Science, Health & Medicine, King’s College London. He graduated in Medical Science at the University of Birmingham (BMedSc) and gained a MSc in Demography and Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
His doctoral research focuses on the consequences that working until or beyond state pension age may have on people’s health and social roles within the family and the community, such as care-giving and volunteering. More broadly, his research interest include how work and family histories affect people’s health and well-being and the roles that socioeconomic and gender inequalities have in shaping these relationships. He is also interested in the current debates on the potential disadvantages and benefits of ageing societies and in the lifecourse influences on socioeconomic and health inequalities among older individuals.
