Dr. Kim is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. She holds a Ph.D in Data Science from Scuola Normale Superiore in Italy.

Before joining the University of Utrecht, she was a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in the department of Digital and Computational Demography. 

Her work revolves around developing innovative methods to enhance relevant statistics on international migration using big data analytics. Her primary research areas lie in international (human) migration, data science, and network science. Moreover, her research is informed by and intersects with fields such as political science, economics, and digital sociology.

Her current research interests focus on exploring how big data sources can aid in understanding the socio-political and cultural contexts of migration, including the role of social networks, integration, and attitudes towards migration.
