Increased cooperation with regional associations

At their most recent meeting, IUSSP Council members, led by the five “regional representatives” on the board, reiterated their wish to see the IUSSP reinforce its cooperation with the regional population associations, all of which share the IUSSP’s ultimate goal of promoting the scientific study of population, encouraging exchange between researchers around the globe, and stimulating interest in population issues.

The IUSSP contacted the regional population associations to offer to share the booth IUSSP booked at the Annual Meeting of the PAA and decided to hold a meeting to explore potential areas of cooperation.

The IUSSP and regional population associations will also share a booth at the forthcoming conference of the Asian Population Association in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 27-30 July 2015.

The IUSSP also decided to create a dedicated “corner” on the IUSSP home page listing the regional population associations, with a page for each of them to provide information in English and in French, on their organization and its activities. The Francophone demographers' association, AIDELF, was added to this list of regional associations.

Furthering its decision to help UAPS collect its membership dues, the IUSSP website also now allows UAPS members to pay their UAPS dues independently from any transaction for IUSSP dues, using the IUSSP virtual payment platform. This has been set up on a trial basis. To pay your UAPS dues, click here.
