Call for applications: Assistant Professor at the Masaryk University

Masaryk University, Faculty of Social Studies invites applications for a position as assistant professor to be jointly appointed in the Department of Sociology and the Office for Population Studies.

The position is available from Sept. 1, 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

 

Qualifications

Ph.D. in sociology or a related field is required. Ability to teach (in English) demography and quantitative research methods is expected. Ability to teach statistics and advanced data analysis as well as substantive courses in the area of population studies will be appreciated. Proven ability to publish in leading international, peer-reviewed journals is also required. Ability to speak Czech is not required.

 

Job description

  • Research within the field of population studies (as broadly construed), publications in respected international journals.
  • Teaching, supervision and examination of undergraduate and graduate level students.
  • Administrative tasks related to the position of associate professor.
  • Research and teaching management.
  • Fundraising.

Part-time appointment is negotiable.

  • list of publications (classified into the following categories: journal articles, research monographs, book chapters, conference proceedings, other) including their citations
  • list externally funded research projects, in which the applicant participated (as team member or in other roles)
