Professional Summary:

 K.Srinivasan's contributions to demography span over five decades. He was member of National Statistics Commission (2000-2001) and Planning Commission's working group on population policy (1978-1979). As Executive Director of Population Foundation of India (1995-2002), he enhanced the roles of NGOs and corporate sector in reproductive and child health programs. As Director of International Institute for Population Sciences (1978-1992), he expanded the institute's academic and geographic scope by making it a deemed university and starting the National Family Health Survey, 1991-1992. He has published numerous books/monographs and research articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. His seminal work on birth intervals in 1960s is still being cited widely. His 2017 book, Population Concerns in India, has been released in three languages. In 1981-1983, he received a scroll of honor from Government of China for his work as chairman of a group set up by  WHO and UNFPA to review and recommend on population research centers in China.

Honorary or professional positions and awards:
 
2009-till present: Honorary Professor at the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore, India.

2014 : Received a Scroll of Honor from the SRM University, Chennai, for "Outstanding Achievement for Contribution to Public Health" during the Global Public Health Conference, organized by the School of Public Health.

1) 2006: Honored for distinguished contributions to the development of the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai, at the Golden Jubilee of the Institute held in December 2006.

2) 2006-2002 : Emeritus professor at the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, India.

3) 2004: Honored with the life time achievement award by the Kerala University in during the silver jubilee celebrations of their Department of Demography in December 2004.

4) 1995: Awarded the Ved Prakash Memorial Award for Lifetime work in Population Studies by the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), India.

5) 1992: Conferred the Fellowship of Indian Society for Medical Statistics ( FSMS).

6) 1983: Awarded a Scroll of Honor by the Government of People’s Republic of China, for assisting them in developing Population Research Centers in China.

Research grants:
2013-2015: Was awarded the National Fellow, 2013-2015, by the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi to work on the history and review of family planning programs in India.

2004-2006: Received a research grant from Indo-Dutch collaborative program in research (IDPAD) with Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) for study of the maternal and child health services in Karnataka state when I was Emeritus Professor at the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai.
