Educated in Nigeria and USA, he has expertise in demography, public health and social statistics, with 22 years of experience in teaching and research; the pioneer head of Demography and Population Studies Programme, Wits University; Editor-in-Chief of African Population Studies; Assistant Editor, African Journal of Reproductive Health. He has supervised twelve PhD students to completion, 45 Masters and more than 80 Honors students in the past 10 years. I have more than 100 journal publications; co-edited two books,"Continuity and Change in sub-Saharan Africa", and "Social Demography of South Africa: Advances and Emerging issues". His current research focus is on new methods for understanding African demography and family transition. My research interest covers formal demography, sexual and reproductive health; family demography etc.My current project is understanding family demography in sub-saharan Africa . I consult for a number of international organisations.
