Professional Summary:

I am a graduate in Economics from Presidency College (1986-1989 batch). I completed my Masters in 1991, and doctoral in 2003 from Calcutta University. My doctoral research was on community resource management. SUbsequently, I shifted my research focus to areas like education, ageing and reproductive health.

The initial years of my professional life was spent in teaching - at Taki Govt College and at RAbindra Bharati University. I served for more than a year in the Sachar Committee, before shifting to Institute of Development STudies Kolkata in 2007. I worked in Population Research Centre, Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, where I joined in 2010. In 2013, I shifted to Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and joined teh Humanities & Social Sciences Department.

I have published extensively in international and national journals, like Ecological Economics, Tourism MAnagement, Social Indicators Research, Sustainable Development, Economic & Political Weekly, etc. I have also comleted several research projects — some of which have resulted in policy documents.
