Professional Summary:

I am a formal demographer researching the methodological challenges in accurately estimating health and mortality differentials. My research output has focused on performing sensitivity analysis of healthy life expectancy indicators and testing how different measurement and estimation methods can impact health outcomes, specifically regarding gender gaps in mortality and health. I also work on mathematical demography and alternative indicators of ageing. In 2018, I joined the Health and Longevity research group headed by Dr. Marc Luy at the Vienna Institute of Demography as a research scientist. In the framework of the ERC project “Levels and Trends of Health Expectancy: Understanding its Measurement and Estimation Sensitivity’’, where I mainly performed sensitivity analysis of healthy life expectancy indicators regarding different measurement and estimation methods. As of 2024, I am a professor of Demography at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil.
