Dr Moradhvaj Dhakad is a demographer affiliated with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Austria. He received the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Fellowship in 2025. His research investigates heterogeneity in health and mortality by socioeconomic characteristics and gender, as well as population projections. He completed his MPhil and Ph.D. in Population Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. After his PhD, he served as a research scientist at the Vienna Institute of Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and as a research scholar at IIASA, where he contributed to the Global Population and Human Capital Projections by age-sex-education for 200 countries. He also completed his postdoc at the University of Vienna. He has published a book on adult mortality and research papers in various peer-reviewed journals. He received the Best Young Researcher Award at the Second Asian Population Forum, Shanghai University.
