This staff post is located in the Population and Development Branch, which is part of the Technical Division at UNFPA in New York. The focus of the position is two-fold (i) reviewing data interoperability challenges between baseline population data, refugee data and internal displacement data in complex humanitarian response settings and (ii) exploring the customization and application of subnational population projection methods to available population and demographic data in selected humanitarian crises. The successful applicant will work with senior demographers at UNFPA and in close collaboration with demographers, data scientists and statisticians at UNHCR, IOM, OCHA, UN Population Division and academic research partners.
