The Department of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Urban Studies beginning in August 2016. A successful candidate for this position must have a demonstrated research agenda that has the potential to lead to external funding. Located in the heart of Amsterdam, we are a Ph.D. granting department with a research active faculty and a diverse graduate and undergraduate student body. The University of Amsterdam is among the leading universities in Europe.
The new assistant professor will be embedded in the program group ‘Political Sociology: Power, Place and Difference’, and be active in urban sociology and urban studies. S/he is currently expected to spend 60 percent of the time on teaching (both sociology in general and urban sociology in particular), and 40 percent on research. Both activities include administrative tasks and services to the academic community.
