The creation of equal living conditions in Germany is not only a declared goal of politics on the basis of the Basic Law. From a demographic point of view, life expectancy plays a central role in being able to speak of equal living conditions. However, life expectancy in Germany is not at the same level everywhere. There are considerable differences between the federal states and also within the federal states. Are these differences a reflection of the respective socio-economic situation? Or can other factors also be cited?

These events, which take place on a Tuesday of each month from 1 to 2 PM, are connected to the plan to establish an Einstein Center for Population Diversity in Berlin, which will bring together top-level research on this topic for the first time in a joint institution and contribute to the international visibility of Germany as a research location. The Förderfonds Wissenschaft in Berlin supports this important initiative in a forward-looking field of research.

Sincerely,

Dr. Andreas Eckert
Chairman of the Board of the Förderfonds Wissenschaft in Berlin

Dr. Andreas Edel
Head of the Secretariat of the Population Europe Research Network
