The Future of Living Together

Tuesday Dialogues for an Einstein Center for Population Diversity

Within the framework of this digital series of events, experts from academia discuss central issues of social cohesion at the interface of society, politics, business and science with stakeholders from the private sector and the general public.

We would be delighted to welcome you to the next event, which will take place

on Tuesday, 15 December 2020from 11:30 - 13:00.

Prof. Dr Melinda Mills (University of Oxford) will give a short keynote speech on the topic:

If the pandemic is over, what are the lessons (demographers) learned? (in English language with simultaneous translation into German)

Afterwards, participants are invited to ask questions and join the discussion.

Theme: Many governments, scientists and businesses were overwhelmed by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. This talk will reflect on the vital lessons that demographers have learned, and also on the vital knowledge that they have contributed to our understanding of how to navigate the pandemic. It also focuses on the importance of multiple aspects of population diversity, differing impacts and reactions to interventions by various social groups and structural inequalities revealed in many countries as a result of the pandemic.

The thirteen Tuesday Dialogues, which take place one Tuesday each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.are part of the plan to establish an Einstein Center for Population Diversity in Berlin. The Center is intended to pool top-level research on the topic in a joint institution for the first time. The Förderfonds Wissenschaft in Berlin supports this important initiative.
