Professional Summary:

I was born in India where I completed my postgraduate studies before obtaining my PhD in Demography from the Australian National University in 1980. I worked in Indonesia for the Australian National University and the UNFPA (1981-1987) and the Population Council (1987-1992). During 1992-2013, I worked at Flinders University as Director of the Population Studies program, taught population and related subjects and supervised 100+ Masters/PhD students. I served as consultant to UNFPA in Cambodia, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Myanmar,  UNDP in Timor-Leste, India (Assam), Papua New Guinea (Bougainville), and the Government of South Australia. I led an Australian Aid funded project  in eastern Indonesia. Currently, I hold  Academic Status at Flinders University, Australia. In the last five years, I published eight journal articles and made several presentations at international conferences. I am  a member of the IUSSP, Asian Population Association,  Indian Association for the Study of Population, and Australian Population Association.
