Professional Summary:

 Yasuhiko Saito is a Research Project Professor at the College of Economics at Nihon University, Tokyo, Japan and a Senior Advisor to the President on Population Ageing, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, Jakarta, Indonesia. He has served as a council member of IUSSP from 2005 to 2009 and a council member of the Asian Population Association from 2016 to 2018.   

Saito has been working on health expectancy and population aging in both developed and developing countries.  In order to study issues on aging and health, he has conducted a nationally representative longitudinal survey in Japan and supported surveys in Singapore and Kerala, India.  He also participated in a project for a 5-country comparative study of centenarians including Denmark, France, Japan, Sweden, and Switzerland.  Currently, he is running a nationally representative longitudinal surveys on aging and health in the Philippines and Vietnam.
