Dr. Sayeed Unisa, a distinguished scholar, served as Professor and Head of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai, India. Over 30 years at IIPS, she mentored 25 PhD scholars. She was also a Visiting Professor at IISS the Netherlands and Adjunct Professor at TISS, India. A Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, London, Dr. Unisa has an extensive portfolio of books and research articles on nutrition, gender, infertility, and health issues.
She has presented papers and led sessions in 21 countries. Her research encompasses 20 large-scale cross-sectional, impact evaluation, and longitudinal studies, funded by UNICEF, WHO, World Bank, Ford Foundation, and the Government of India. As a technical expert, she has contributed to maternal and child health, nutrition, and educational issues for various Indian ministries, namely the MoHFW, MoWCD, MHRD, MoMA, MoSPI and MoRD. Her impactful research has earned her numerous awards and recognition in the field.
