Professional Summary:

Gilbert Habaasa is a Research Degree Student and a Researcher in Demography at LSHTM, specialising in mortality dynamics in Sub‑Saharan Africa. His work focuses on adult and under‑five mortality, sex differentials, lifespan inequality, and population health disparities using large‑scale datasets including IPUMS, DHS, and MICS. He is also Director and Senior Researcher at Population and Development Consult Ltd in Uganda. Previously, he served as an IUSSP CRVS Fellow, National CRVS Consultant for Uganda, Research Fellow at UNECA’s African Centre for Statistics, and Technical Assistant at the African Union Commission. He is committed to advancing demographic methods and generating evidence to inform policy and improve population health.
