Research and programs on Couples and Reproductive Health

This working session, organized by the IUSSP Scientific Panel on Couples' Reproductive Health and Fertility, is a side event at the 2020 Annual Meeting of the Population Association of America, taking place in Washington, DC, 22-25 April 2020.
CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Deadline for submissions: 15 February 2020
Organizing committee: Stan Becker (Johns Hopkins University) and Ambrose Akinlo (Obafemi Awolowo University & University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston).
The IUSSP Panel on Couples and Reproductive Health is sponsoring this working session for researchers and policymakers interested in the topic. The Panel encourages submissions from researchers who wish to present work in progress or planned (completed work presumably can/will be presented in PAA sessions on couples), as well as the attendance of scholars, students and policymakers interested in broadening their exposure to the topic.
Format:
- Introduction by Stan Becker (Johns Hopkins University), the chair of the IUSSP Panel.
- Panel of 3-4 invited experts who will give short presentations on different perspectives on the topic (10-15 min. each) .
- General discussion.
- Short presentations to share a summary of projects in the field or ideas for projects in the beginning stages of planning (3-6 min. each).
- Feedback/discussion from other participants.
- General discussion about the future of the field.
- Summary of the gems from the session by a rapporteur.
Location: Marriott Wardman Park, Washington, DC.
Date: 22 April 2020 from 1 to 4pm.
Submissions and Registration:
Participants who would like to present must submit a short abstract and may submit an extended abstract (1-2 pages, not a full paper) by 15 February 2020.
The submissions will be evaluated by the Organizing Committee on the basis of quality and fit to the theme of the working session. Accepted abstracts will be presented as short (3-6 min) talks during the working session.
ALL participants who would like to attend the session must register online, both those who would like to present and those who wish only to attend without presenting. There are a limited number of places.
Please note that IUSSP will not be able to provide ANY travel support. Participants are expected to cover the costs for travel and accommodations. In addition, as a means to cover part of the cost of audiovisual equipment, we will be asking for voluntary donations of $20-$30 each from those attending the workshop, especially participants from high-income countries.
