Data Revolution events at the ALAP-ABEP Congress

Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, 17-22 October 2016 

 

Thanks to financial support from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to the IUSSP and the Population Association of America (PAA) to support demographers' participation in the Data Revolution, the IUSSP and two of its Scientific Panels organized a training workshop, a side meeting, and two round tables at the 2016 joint congress of the Latin American Population Association (ALAP) and the Brazilian Association for Population Studies (ABEP), from 17 to 22 October 2016 in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil.

 

Training workshop on Social Media and Demographic Methods

The IUSSP Scientific Panel on Big Data and Population Processes organized this training workshop on 17 October. The workshop was facilitated by Emilio Zagheni (University of Washington), with the assistance of Julio Ortega (Universidad San Francisco de Quito). READ ARTICLE

 

 

Meetings on Civil Registration and Vital Statistical (CRVS) assessment

The IUSSP Scientific Panel on Innovations for Strengthening CRVS Systems organised a side meeting on 18 October, moderated by Marcela Cerrutti (CONICET) and a round table on 20 October, chaired by Maria Isabel Cobos (United Nations Statistics Division), with Magda Ruiz (Celade/CEPAL) as discussant.
