Brigida García holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Demography. She has been professor-researcher at El Colegio de México (Center for Demographic, Urban and Environmental Studies) since 1971. She has written several books on labor force, family and gender, and more than one hundred articles and chapters in books on these subjects. Brigida has been President of  Somede (Mexican Demographic Society) and served as member and then co-chair of the Gender and Population Committee of IUSSP. She is also researcher emeritus of SNI (Mexican National System of Researchers). Her recent publications have concentrated in the topics of households, time-use and non-paid work.
