Director of FGV Social at the Getulio Vargas Foundation. He holds a PhD in Economics, Princeton University. He was President of the Institute for Applied Economic Research(Ipea), Secretary-General of the Council of Economic and Social Development(CDES) and Minister of Strategic Affairs linked to the presidency of Brazil(SAE/PR) where he was responsible for the Academic Forum on the BRICS, recreated the National Commission on Population and Development(CNPD), co-founder of the International knowledge hub World Without Poverty. He also represented Brazil in the World Economic Forum and was Brazilian National Security Advisor(NSA) in the BRICS. He has been twice cited as one of the 100 most influential Brazilians by Época Magazine. He has evaluated policies in more than a dozen countries and also implemented policies at three government levels in Brazil. Professor Neri’s research focuses on social policies, income distribution and wellbeing. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses at FGV EPGE
