Dr. Monica Ewomazino Akokuwebe has a PhD degree in Sociology (Demography and Population Studies as specialization) from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria). She was a former Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa). She has supervised, examined and taught at the under- and post-graduate levels at local and international levels. She was an External Examiner for Demography and Population Studies Programme at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa (2019-2020). She has over 30 publications in high CiteScore journals and book chapters. Her research interests are in the fields of Sociology, Demography and Population Studies. Presently, she won a Postdoctoral Fellowship from North-West University, South Africa. She is currently working on a research projects titled: “ ‘Predictive influence of home births among South African women’; and ‘Racial differences in utilization of maternal healthcare services among South African women of reproductive age using Demographic Health Survey datasets ”.
