The Statistics and Population Studies Department at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) is part of the Faculty of Natural Science The Department specializes in the following two areas: Statistics and Population Studies / Demography. Joint programmes in Computational Finance are offered in conjunction with the Department of Mathematics and the School of Business and Finance. IIASA and Joint Research Centres (JRC) of the European Commission - Five Researchers in Demographic Modeling and Migration (preferably at post-doc level)

IIASA and the Joint Research Centres (JRC) of the European Commission have formed a partnership to establish a joint “Centre of Expertise on Population and Migration” to assess the implications of different migration scenarios on future population ageing in Europe, in a multi-dimensional way with a focus on age, gender, education and labor force participation. The Centre will also focus on scenarios (demographic, economic and environmental) for potential sending countries in Africa and Western Asia. The Centre will be lead jointly by Wolfgang Lutz (IIASA) and Delilah Al Khudhairy (EC-JRC).
