Applicants should hold at least a Master degree in the fields of Demography, Statistics, Economics, or Mathematics. The preferred candidate has a strong quantitative background applied to population studies, experience with analysing large (longitudinal and cross-sectional) data sets and the use of Stata, R, and MatLab Statistical software. A keen interest and experience in the topic of population projections, the desire and capacity to relate theoretical topics to practical challenges and solutions, good communication skills, excellent study results and experience in academic writing are also essential.

- PhD or Master Degree in Demography, Statistics, Economics, or Mathematics.

- Minimum experience of 36 months as lecturer or researcher in academic or research institution.

- Demonstrated experience in the production of population projections

- Three scientific publications of relevance or indexed. - Minimum of 180 hours of training received.

- 12 months minimum involvement in one or more research projects.

- Sufficiency in Spanish and English Description of position

The person hired will be part of Population and Development group at CEPROEC and will use a large set of databases of individuals and households at different levels of geographical disaggregation. It should help in the construction of population projections (households, individuals and multiple population groups) at national, regional and local levels. He/she will apply trends extrapolation methods (simple and complex), evaluate official statistics estimates on population and will model different demographic events (fertility, mortality, migration, aging, etc.).

In addition:

- Conducting research on population studies with a prospective approach, linked with the rest of areas of the center.

- Participation in designing and teaching both thematic and instrumental modules at postgraduate level, linked to his/her lines of research

- Publication of results of the research in international indexed journals - Liaison with clients, in particular from public institutions - Supervision of master theses - Other academic tasks demanded by the hiring unit
