Research Fellow in SUNDEM

The Stockholm University SIMSAM Node for Demographic Research (SUNDEM, www.suda.su.se/sundem) announces a two-year junior-researcher position. SUNDEM is located at the university’s Department of Sociology and its Demography Unit. The department has about 100 employees, organizes teaching at all levels, and is home to several research projects in Demography and Sociology.
Project description
SUNDEM is a program for register-based research financed for 2014-2018 by the Swedish Research Council through the Swedish Initiative for research on Microdata in the Social and Medical Sciences (SIMSAM). It is administered at the Stockholm University Demography Unit (www.suda.su.se), Department of Sociology and coordinated by Professor Gunnar Andersson. The project brings together researchers on fertility, mortality, migration and family dynamics from the Departments of Sociology and Human Geography and collaborates with register researchers in other Nordic countries. The overarching goal is to produce research that exploits the unique qualities that only register data have.
Main responsibilities
The researcher is expected to bring along plans for his/her own research, to collaborate with other project members, and contribute to the development of Nordic register-based research. (S)he is expected to perform high level research and publish in international journals.
Qualification requirements
Applicants must have completed their PhD study before taking up the announced position and be fluent in spoken and written English.
Assessment criteria
Employment criteria include the degree to which the applicant’s research plan supports the project’s overall goals and provides opportunities to develop register-based demographic research.
Terms of employment
The positions will be filled for a fixed term of two years. Salaries are commensurate with those for postdoctoral researchers in Sweden.
