Peter McDonald - 2022 IUSSP Laureate
Peter McDonald, Emeritus Professor of Demography at the Australian National University, Honorary Professor at the University of Melbourne and former IUSSP President, was elected IUSSP's 32nd Laureate. This award recognizes Peter's outstanding contributions to the advancement of population science, notably his contributions to demographic theory, research and training as well as his service to governments in relating demographic research to policy and planning issues.

Peter McDonald served on three IUSSP Councils, as Council member (2002-2005), as Vice President (2006-2009) and as President (2010-2013). He also served on three IUSSP committees: the Committee on the Teaching of Demography (1979-1983), the Committee on Comparative Analysis of Fertility and Family Planning (1985-1989) and the Working Group on Low Fertility (1999-2001), which he chaired.
