Spatial Demography announces Calls for Papers on several Topical Collections

The journal Spatial Demography has recently launched “Calls for Papers” for several “Topical Collections". At this time, the website provides descriptions and additional information for three active Topical Collections. Information on three new Topical Collections will be added within the next month, and others are in development.

The active topical collections include:

1/ Migration and Urbanization – edited by Hengyu Gu (Nanjing University, PR China)

2/ Spatial Dimensions of Deaths of Despair - edited by Tse-Chuan Yang (Albany, USA) and Seulki Kim (Nebraska-Lincoln, USA)

3/ Applications of Nighttime Lights in Population Studies – edited by Xi Chen (Quinnipiac, USA)

Topical Collections to be added and activated soon include:

4/ Climate Change, Adaptation and Population Dynamics (title to be confirmed) – edited by Oh Seok Kim (Korea University, South Korea) and colleagues

5/  Big Spatial Data & Demographic Research (title to be confirmed) – edited by Guangqing Chi (Penn State, USA) and Junjun Yin (Penn State, USA)

6/ Spatial Methods in Applied Demography (title to be confirmed) – TBA

Spatial Demography has moved to a continuous submission and publication model. A Topical Collection is similar to a special issue but under continuous submission individual manuscripts work through the publication journey and can be published quickly without delays incurred by other submission. Published manuscripts that are part of a Topical Collection would be linked together via URLs at the journal’s main site. After 3-4 manuscripts have been accepted, the coordinating editors would provide a short editorial comment introducing the collection, again linked via URLs.

The current aims and scope of Spatial Demography can be found at: https://www.springer.com/journal/40980/aims-and-scope.

If anyone has any questions about these topical collections and/or is interested in proposing a new topical collection, please contact the journal’s editor, Stephen A. Matthews (Penn State, USA) via e-mail at sxm27@psu.edu.
