RESEARCH OFFICER
Department of Social Policy and Intervention, Oxford
Grade 7: £30,738 - £37,768 with a discretionary range to £41,255 p.a.
The Department of Social Policy and Intervention and the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School are seeking to appoint a Research Officer to work on the main themes of the Oxford Martin Programme on Inequality and Prosperity: Promoting Inclusive Growth, including earnings inequality and the labour market (including productivity, technology and institutions), inequality and growth (including promoting competition and innovation), economic inequality and equalising opportunity (including intergenerational mobility), redistribution, and inequality and the firm.
You will be working with Professor Brian Nolan, who is directing the programme, and other team members. You will undertake analysis and empirical research; work in close collaboration with collaborators within and beyond the university; present findings and research outputs; and make a major contribution to the achievement of the goals of the project.
You will have a PhD in economics, social policy, sociology or another relevant social science discipline, with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and statistical/econometric methods. You will have demonstrated the capacity to produce high-quality peer-reviewed publications on relevant topics, build research collaborations, and present research findings to fellow professionals and other informed members of the public. In-depth knowledge on research on the core topics to be addressed in the programme is highly desirable.
This is a full-time post, for a fixed-term of 3 years, starting on 1 September 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. You will report to Professor Brian Nolan.

The Department of Social Policy and Intervention and the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Officer to work on the main themes of the Oxford Martin Programme on Inequality and Prosperity: Promoting Inclusive Growth, including earnings inequality and the labour market (including productivity, technology and institutions), inequality and growth (including promoting competition and innovation), economic inequality and equalising opportunity (including intergenerational mobility), redistribution, and inequality and the firm.
You will be working with Professor Brian Nolan, who is directing the programme, and other team members. You will have substantial research experience around the broad topics to be addressed such as economic inequality, labour markets, and economic growth demonstrating a high level of understanding and expertise. You will have substantial experience and achievements in developing research objectives and applying quantitative analysis and statistical/econometric methods. You will have a strong research profile and track record of excellent publications or papers in highly-ranked peer-reviewed academic journals or major presses in the area and have demonstrated capacity to play a central role in developing and implementing research projects and leading research teams. You will have ability to present research findings to fellow professionals and other informed members of the public. In-depth knowledge on research on the core topics to be addressed in the programme is highly desirable.
