Professional Summary:

My career in the population field began at the University of Michigan Center for Population Planning in 1971, where I worked with Jason Finkle on the politics of the United Nations response to rapid population growth.  From there I moved to Boston.  I was one of several instructors in the first multidisplinary course on international women's reproductive health at the Harvard School of Public Health.  Subsequently I worked as Policy Advisor in the USAID Office of Population in the 1990s, followed by serving as Executive Vice President for Technical Leadership and Advocacy at Ipas, an international women's reproductive health NGO.  I have served as an advisor to US delegations to the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), the UN Population Commission, and the UNFPA governing bodies.
