Preliminary IPC2025 programme is available!

20 March 2025

The IUSSP and the National Organizing Committee are actively preparing for the 30th International Population Conference (IPC2025) in Brisbane, 13-18 July 2025. The preliminary scientific programme can be downloaded from the IPC2025 conference website (https://ipc2025.iussp.org/). Note that this programme does not include the plenaries, Research Leader and invited sessions nor does it include a list of side meetings and preconference workshops organized before the official IPC.

The conference schedule will be announced mid-April. Sessions in the final programme may be modified based on author registration. Presenting authors must confirm their attendance in Brisbane by registering for the conference.

Registration

The deadline for presenting authors of papers in oral sessions to register is 1 April 2025. This deadline allows organizers to identify sessions where replacement papers should be invited or merged with other sessions on similar topics to ensure a full set of presentations.

Early registrants who complete their registration by 1 April 2025 will be entered into a drawing to win two complimentary tickets for a river cruise and a visit to the Koala Sanctuary near Brisbane.

  • Authors who applied for IUSSP travel support do not need to register by 1 April, as their application status is linked to their session participation.
  • Authors of accepted posters have until 1 June 2025 to register. Please note that accepted posters will only be scheduled on the programme after the presenting author has registered.

Travel Support

The International Organizing Committee (IOC) for the conference received 539 applications for travel support from oral session and poster authors, as well as session chairs and discussants. Unfortunately, funding for travel support is limited. The IUSSP Council has pledged €200,000 from its reserve funds to support participant travel and has also secured funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We are currently awaiting confirmation of additional funding from UNFPA and other donors. We hope to announce funding decisions soon. Priority will be given to:

✅ Early-career presenting authors from LMIC countries
✅ Presenting authors in oral sessions
✅ Authors who have not previously received travel support for an IPC conference

Accommodation & Childcare

For participants traveling to Brisbane, local hosts have posted a list of recommended hotels: https://ipc2025.iussp.org/accommodation/. You will also find useful travel information about Brisbane and Queensland on the conference website.

⚠️ Beware of Travel Scams

Be cautious of unsolicited emails from travel agencies claiming to be affiliated with IPC2025 and offering to book accommodation. These are scams. Neither IUSSP nor the Australian conference organizers have partnered with any travel agency, nor have we shared IUSSP member email addresses with third parties.

Childcare at IPC2025

The organizers hope to offer childcare services at the conference venue. Participants will need to cover childcare costs. Organizers will reach out soon to those who expressed interest in childcare via our February survey and more information will be provided later on the website and to registered participants
